| In a traditional wire rope, its element wires cross each other at points (Point-contact). Regular ropes meet the drum or sheave at points and wear them heavily. The Compacted ropes meet the drum or sheave at surface and do not wear them partially at points as regular ropes do. Round rope with Lang's Lay is very difficult to handle for it easily untwist itself and develop kinks. |
